So ..... today was the big day.
It was so fun. I was happy to jump right back in. The kids like to pretend they were bummed to start back, but they were pretty happy in reality.
Fancy's science was a big hit today. We did an EASY experiment that was really neat. We took pics for her science lab notebook so I thought I'd share. Bubby tagged along in the kitchen and I am so glad I let him. It is amazing how much he learns from his sister's middle school science. What a blessing that he can "attend" elementary and middle school science both!
We started by filling a glass 1/4 full with vegetable oil. Next we added an equal amount of water (which promptly passed the oil by and went to the bottom of the glass). Finally we added an equal amount of syrup (which passed the oil and water both and sank to the bottom).
Here is what we had at that point:
Next we placed a rock (which sank to the very bottom), a grape (which sat right on top of the syrup layer), an ice cube (which sat right on top of the water), and a piece of cork (which floated on the top of the oil).

Fancy drew a nice sketch detailing her findings for her notebook and we were done.
Who knew science could be so FUN?!? (well, I did, but you know what I mean)
